Free Video Debunks Product Launch Hype

by Brian Clark

Check out this great free video from Jeff Walker (no email registration required) that debunks the whole Internet marketing guru product launch thing. If you haven’t heard of him, Jeff is the guy who devised the product launch system back in 2005, and I think he’s a little concerned about how it’s now perceived.

Many people are surprised when I say that I was one of the first people who bought Product Launch Formula (now off the market) in 2005. That’s because I don’t use the techniques like the “gurus” do. I use launch techniques on a continual basis that build sustainable businesses, and that’s how the whole product launch strategy works outside of the online marketing niche (actually, it’s working for Teaching Sells, too).

I’ll write more about that when I get back into town. For now, check out the video. I chatted with Jeff the other day, and he’s also going to teach the methods featured in the video, also for free (my kind of guy).

Disclosure: Jeff is revamping the entire Product Launch training system (I don’t have to tell you that a lot has changed in the last 3 years). I’m going to promote the new version for Jeff when it’s ready, because he’s a quality guy with an outstanding training program. If you end up buying the program through me, I’ll be adding in some quality additional training that shows you how I’ve implemented these strategies without succumbing to a circus-like spectacle.

The video was very good. I laughed at the part where Jeff said he’s not a good salesman, because that video really shows otherwise ;)

Yeah, I laughed at that too… Jeff is a great salesman specifically because he thinks he’s not. :-)

Wow. Great example of how to build a list before you launch. I signed up for the freebies because the information was compelling.

The part about not being a great salesman was laughable–especially when he says he hasn’t sold anything in his life. He must be thinking the type of hard sell that used car salesmen use, because he’s obviously a successful salesman. I loved the fact that he was completely candid and outlined his “evil plan.” That’s what sealed the deal for me and encouraged me to sign up for his mailings.

I’d mark this as a must see, even if you don’t sign up, just as a study in how to do this type of effective pre-launch marketing.

Have just viewed this video, yes it is good and easy to follow.

Judging by the lack of comments, maybe I am not the only one who found the video boring :)

I also liked this video and subscribed for the freebies.
I am just wondering why the original product was taken of the market when it was performing so good?

I’v seen. Very simple, but so interesting. Thanks. I will try to download this video. :)

It’s being updated to reflect all the changes that have happened in the last two years. I think the new version will be released on March 25.

I’m just getting a chance to catch up on my feeds, Brian. I can’t believe you’ve written about Jeff Walker’s Product Launch Program. I came across this a week and a half ago, and I’ve been trying to find out if it’s all hype.

I watched the Helix video when I first came across it, and I must say, I was impressed. I can’t wait until the full program release. He’s building the suspense perfectly, just like he teaches. His own relaunch of the program is the best example of the methods being implemented.

Great Blog! I mean really, really awesome! A breath of fresh air! I’ve spent the last six months obsessively learning internet marketing, copywriting, web design and everything else that has to do with starting an online business. Until I found this blog, I havn’t even considered product launch or pre-launch marketing. Always learning. I always know when I stumble across a good site, I get that feeling I got when I was a kid walking into a toy store. Got that feeling at copyblogger man! Thanks.
