UPDATE: We sold 150 before I could get out of bed this morning, and a lot of people are disappointed. We’ve lifted the 150 cap and now the Thesis Black Friday discount is good until 11:59 PM Eastern time Friday night. Coupon Code – 20D03977D0.
If there’s anything I hate, it’s discounting prices. It’s usually just a bad idea.
And when it comes to Thesis, Chris and I especially don’t believe in discounting prices… we think the price we charge for Thesis is fair considering the product, the support, and the continual innovative updates.
But, this Black Friday thing has become somewhat of an institution in the US. The day after Thanksgiving, everyone seems to discount prices for one day only, even those who usually wouldn’t.
I guess we’ll play along… and you get the benefit.
We’re offering 20% off for 150 people those who use a special code starting right now until Friday night at 11.59 pm Eastern time. We don’t want to interfere with people’s real-space shopping, so the discount code is effective right now. for the first 150 people only.
That works out to:
$69.60 for Thesis Personal (regularly $87)
$131.20 for Thesis Developer (regularly $164)
$61.60 for Developer Upgrade (regularly $77)
IMPORTANT! – You must use this code to get the discount – 20D03977D0 (don’t forget this!).
If you’ve been thinking of buying Thesis but held off, now’s the time to buy Thesis.
Not Familiar With Thesis?
Earlier this year, Thesis caught on immediately due to its stellar search engine optimization, usability, accessibility and flexibility. Not to mention stunning typography and elegant design… all right out of the box. Oh, and there’s actually support for your use of the theme? Yep, Chris and an entire community of over 2,500 Thesis owners.
What’s continued to improve with each new update (Thesis owners get every new update free) is the flexibility… and this is thanks to two innovative option panels that allow you to customize many elements of your theme without code. Even better, you can change the entire layout, look, and feel from the Design Options panel.
The Thesis Options panel lets you easily tweak a ton of stuff that used to require diving into the code. Things like the way your title tags present, to your feed address, navigation elements, comments, categories, stats code, etc. There’s even an incredible multimedia box where you can display videos, ads, Flash animation… and you can even customize what appears in the box on individual posts or pages. Think about that for a minute–you can serve targeted ads and multimedia content based on the content of that page.
But the Design Options panel is even more powerful–it allows you to customize fonts and font sizes all across the theme. Best of all, no reinventing of the wheel is required—the resulting typography is expertly constructed no matter what font/size combination you choose.
And it gets better… the Layout constructor in the “Design Options” panel allows you to select a 1, 2, or 3 column layout AND to specify the width of your content column. When used in conjunction with the font selector, the layout constructor yields a nearly endless set of design possibilities. Now, your Thesis doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s, and you don’t have to code anything to make it happen.
Thesis 1.4 Coming Shortly
The thing that people are beginning to understand is that Thesis is not just a theme, it’s a WordPress code framework. For a search optimized theme, code should be separate from design. But it’s often not, which is why free WordPress themes are full of bloated code that harms search optimization, accessibility, and usability. And you can forget flexibility completely.
Chris has already updated the theme with “hooks” that allow Thesis to support any design with the same code framework. For a striking example of that, click though and look at Copyblogger. Yep, it’s built on Thesis, and looks not a bit like the original thing.
What’s happened is that theme designers are starting to provide custom looks for Thesis owners, at a fraction of the cost and time. The coding work is already done and optimized, which allows designers to do what they do best–create a stunning presentation for your website or blog.
When Thesis 1.4 arrives, the initial vision for Thesis will be in place. A WordPress-powered site that can look like a “blog” or it can have a “magazine-style” front page that fronts any website. And Chris is working hard to give you custom landing page options that will make you a marketing machine, while making the old-style “blog” look silly.
But I’ll talk more about that later. You’ll get all the good stuff that’s coming by buying now, and you’ll save 20%. But move fast, people have been tweeting and posting about this special all evening.

Wow nice discount! I just do hope I have the money right now in paypal to pay for it right away, but then I dont have at this time…
Will thesis work with wordpress 2.7?
Please let me know via email as I am very interested in purchasing this theme.
Just ordered the developer edition! Looking to finally start my blog from scratch with this awesome design and functionality.
Ryan, it works, but there’s some incompatibility with the options panels and threaded comments. The problem is, 2.7 is not an official WP release yet, so we can’t fix everything while they are still tweaking it.
As soon as 2.7 is officially out, Thesis will be made 100% compatible. As you likely know, WordPress loves to change stuff without telling anyone in advance, so we’re waiting for a solid release.
@ Brian – So if I buy thesis now I am entitled to a free upgrade when wordpress 2.7 is released?
Ryan, yep. Not only that upgrade, but every upgrade. No matter what changes on the web and with search engines, Thesis will always be state of the art.
Also (sorry to be a pain in the ass),
but do you know if it is possible to add a 468×68 banner into the top header?
Also is the theme coded in such a way that it is hard for me to make my own edits without breaking the stylesheet?
My current theme is hard to edit to my exact likings because of this reason, you could break the whole theme.
Thanks for the discount. Been thinking about it for a while. Just bought it.
Thesis is a really nice theme. I use it on one of my websites.
Is this really worth it, I mean how many can say it truly helped them out. I’d pay if I knew it could increase my email conversions.
Great idea guys, I’m surprised more bloggers haven’t done something like this on Black Friday. It would make a nice yearly tradition to save on products / ebooks / themes instead of it just being the big companies.
Thanks for your theme and Thanksgiving wishes for you and your family.
The coupon didn’t even make it to Black Friday. Here it is, not even 9:30 am on Thanksgiving morning, and I get the message “coupon already used”. I guess I won’t be buying after all.
I bought the developer license a few months ago and haven’t regretted it. I’m not great with coding, but the community forums have lots of great tips and are read frequently so you get answers quick. Tack on the fact that there have been 2 upgrades of Thesis in the 2 months I’ve owned it, which have increased the functionality. Thesis is the theme for me and any future blogs I publish will use it. Thanks for a great product guys!
I’ve been using Thesis with WordPress 2.7 for about a week or two – no problems noted.
Well, I TRIED, but I got an error, “coupon already used” message, so I guess I missed the 150 cut-off. Which is a shame–as great as the theme is, I just can’t justify $87 for it when I can’t make my mortgage payment, and was feeling guilty about the $70!
OK, due to an incredible amount of disappointment, we’ve extended the sale to an unlimited amount of people through 11:59 Eastern on Friday. We had no idea 150 would sell that fast.
I’ve seen the ads for Thesis and it looks totally cool. But can non-developers manipulate the design without having to learn advanced coding?
I’m worried that I’ll buy it and won’t be able to figure out how to alter it myself and have to spend MORE money paying someone to do it for me.
Any thoughts?
Both options panels allow you to make changes by selecting and clicking a button, no coding required. It’s aimed at people who don’t code.
The part that’s aimed at designers are the hooks that let them port any design onto the Thesis framework… you won’t have to worry about that part of it at all.
The Office Newb, the Thesis theme is one of very few themes which is both, user friendly and expert friendly.
Can you re-open Partnering Profits a few days too?
@all,
HAPPY THANKSGIVING
Brian, I ordered Thesis yesterday evening. I’ve received the confirmation from PayPal, but I’ve not received anything else from DIY. Help, please? Thanks!
Thesis is among my favorites, and I’ve been through a lot of themes. I don’t think I’ve ever run into a bad implementation of Thesis. One of my favorite customizations of Thesis (or at least I think it’s based on Thesis) , is Shai’s latest http://www.shaicoggins.com/.
OK…i too jumped in. Got paypal receipt and nothing else so far. in all my excitement (i’ve been thinking about this for months) i don’t have a server – or an ftp to upload. suggestions please for a blogger dummy. bluehost? thanks! lylah
Lylah, Midphase has one click WordPress install.
Boy oh boy I can’t wait for 1.4! Still Thesis is still amazingly versatile as it is – we use it over a number of sites each to great effect!
Hi,
I’d just like to thank you for offering this great discount, and then extending it to far more people than was originally intended. I was not able to purchase it until 11pm at night, and I REALLY appreciate the fact that you extended the deal and gave me the discount!
Any chance of a new coupon code?
I hope they offer the BLACK FRIDAY discount (or something similar) this year. I just found out about this WP theme, liked it, and plan to purchase one. But gotta watch my expenses and try to save whenever— so I’ll wait… and wait…
I too would be interested in another discount for my people this year.
I tried using the coupon…six different ways to Sunday (copying it, entering it, switching out o’s for 0’s etc.) and I just can’t get it to work. I finally decided to buy it and I’m bummed that I can’t figure out the simple coupon. Maybe it’s for the best…
